Empowering the Blind Citizen, July 2009
Holiday and poor health has slightly interrupted our work flow this month but we are getting back on track.
We have now pretty well analysed all the feedback from the visually impaired evaluators and the detailed results are mixed. This is to be expected since our twenty evaluators were almost random recruited and showed a wide range of general ability and computer knowledge and usage.
The greatest benefit though has come from user suggestions and feedback and Margaret and I are working through the detail and updating the tutorial help files. Part of the course is that websites change and what used to work now fails and has to be looked at again. I should say we are about 70% there and will finish the job during august and be ready to share our files with the general public.
I did agree that we would take a look at blogging for visually impaired people towards the end of the project and I shall make some decisions about this very soon and decide which blogging app is most user-friendly. And we are awaiting the findings from two blind people who have been testing iPadio, blogging from the mobile phone. Interestingly, this mobile phone to computer technology has come on a pace since the project started and there are now several options - audioboo, Vlingo and Ribbit and there may well be more I don't know about.
It is great to be on target.
